So how much will it cost?
If all the numbers have left your mind numb and
you just want an idea of what overall production costs are, a good rule
of thumb for video is $1,000 per finished minute. If your needs are basic,
it will cost less, if your needs are more demanding, it will cost more.
What kinds of productions does Motion Picture
Services do?
Motion Picture Services is a full service production
company providing commercials for television, programming for television,
Video Brochures, info-commercials, music videos, corporate videos,
and much more.
Do I have to supply my own actors?
No, but you are welcome to if you wish.
Do I need a script to get started?
No, all you need is some idea of what you want
accomplished and we can take care of the rest but we'll keep you involved
every step of the way. If you do have a script, no problem.
Are travel fees included?
There is no additional fee for travel within a
30 mile radius of the Chattanooga area, beyond that travel and expenses
are additional.
Do I need to pay for my production up front?
If you do not have an established account with
MPS, payment may be required up front, you may be asked to make a down
payment before production begins, or payment may be required in full before
the master dub can be released. In any case, applying for credit is a
simple matter of filling out the necessary forms. Your account rep will
be happy to work with you in meeting the necessary requirements.
Do I own my video?
We feel that the production should belong to the
client, so we don't reserve the rights to your final production. You own
it in its finished composited form to do with as you wish. We do however
reserve rights to the elements therein. See the terms and conditions section
for more details.
If my production is for Broadcast, are all the
dubs included in the production cost?
If you've made your dub needs known to your sales
rep, the extra costs have probably been included in your production package.
Normally, dubs and or film stock and processing are considered additional
costs.
Are special prices available?
Yes, if your organization qualifies for government
non-profit status, and is producing a public service project, special
rates can be obtained. MPS has a specific number of hours reserved annually
for such projects.
Will Motion Picture Services be able to help
us take advantage of co-op dollars offered by the vendors we deal with?
Most certainly. Just provide a copy of the 'procedures
for filing co-op dollars' document, and our staff will make sure that
your production meets the guidelines set forth by your co-op vendor.
I need to send my production overseas. Can MPS
convert my video to foreign standards?
Yes, we can convert NTSC video (the kind used in
the US) to PAL or SECAM for use overseas.
I don't have time for mass mailing. Can MPS
handle the packaging and shipping of my video?
Yes, we can package and ship your video. In fact,
through our association with Technicolor®, we can handle
up to 20,000 transactions per day.
Can I use popular songs or parts of movies in
my production?
We cannot use copyrighted material in your production
unless we get express written consent from the copyright holders. These
rights are usually prohibitively expensive, so unless you have substantial
resources and reasons to use the material in question, alternative music
or images may be preferable.
